Katie + Ryan’s wedding at Meek’s Grain and Gin was nothing short of unforgettable—- even as rain poured steadily throughout the day. Set in Katie’s hometown, their celebration was filled with love, joy, and the kind of magic that not even stormy skies could dampen. It was clear that Katie + Ryan are so loved, and their people showed up– umbrellas in hand– ready to honor that love. Even with the challenges the weather brought, the day unfolded with the kind of magic that can only happen when you’re surrounded by your favorite people, celebrating something truly meaningful. Keep scrolling to check out a few of my favorites from this beautiful spring wedding.
On the morning of the wedding, Katie’s mom gifted her this beautiful handkerchief that she embroidered herself! Such a thoughtful touch that the colors perfectly matched Katie’s bridal bouquet.
I was obsessed with Katie’s shoes! The something-blue color plus the pearl ankle straps were a perfect finishing touch to her look.
Since Katie + Ryan opted not to do a first look, we did all their portraits beforehand separately. Luckily, we had a covered area with some great light that we were able to utilize while it was raining.
Katie paired her lace applique dress with a fingertip length veil, trimmed in matching lace– a timeless combo. She also chose a bold spring bouquet with big blooms and natural greenery.
When the rain finally cleared enough for the ceremony, we were left with the most gorgeous, drenched trees surrounding the ceremony space. With string lights sparkling overhead, it made for a truly magical atmosphere.
Ryan walked down the aisle with his two sons, shortly before the “flower grannies” made their entrance to make way for the bride. Truly one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen!
Katie + Ryan chose to do a foot washing as their unity ceremony, symbolizing their desire to serve one another throughout their marriage.
One of Katie’s sweet family members was kind enough to let us borrow her umbrella for a few cute photos in the rain right after the ceremony. I love that Katie + Ryan were up for getting a little wet for some photos that showed the true spirit of their day.
Katie + Ryan’s infectious joy made them so easy to work with! I love capturing genuine smiles from my clients, when they’re truly just enjoying being together.
The perfect backdrop for a few photos before stepping into their reception to celebrate with all their family and friends!
I’m a sucker for a live wedding painter! Art by Anna Claire had her work cut out for her dealing with the weather, but all the wedding guests loved watching her gorgeous work come together as she painted during the reception.
Katie + Ryan, thank you so much for trusting us to capture your wedding day! Your ability to go with the flow and make the most of a less-than-perfect weather forecast allowed us to get some beautiful images that I hope allow you to relive the joy that everyone felt throughout the day. Congratulations, Katie + Ryan on the start of your new journey together!
