Shelby + Nick: October 28, 2023

High school sweethearts Shelby + Nick tied the knot last weekend at J+D Farms in Southside. I was so excited to be back at this beautiful venue after my last wedding there over six years ago. From the bridal cottage to the reception barn to the stone garden ceremony space, there were so many beautiful areas to explore. Shelby + Nick picked the perfect fall date, and the leaves were truly showing out for them to create the most beautiful, autumnal backdrop. Keep scrolling to see more from Mr. + Mrs. Brown’s perfect day!

How stunning are the florals Shelby chose for her and her bridesmaids’ bouquets? I love how she used bright, bold colors while still keeping with the fall theme.

A must for any wedding: the timeless bridal portrait.

Shelby + Nick shared the cutest first look at their ceremony site! It was the perfect way to relax their nerves before we jumped into their portraits.

The stone fireplace of the ceremony area was decorated with gorgeous greenery and dried florals, so I knew I had to take advantage of it as a backdrop for some of our bride + groom portraits.

Grooms need their moment to shine on their wedding day too! We snapped some quick portraits of Nick just outside the grooms’ lounge.

Shelby did such an amazing job with her color palette! The unique teal color she chose for the wedding party was the perfect pop of color against all the warm fall hues.

The path from the parking lot to the ceremony site had the most beautiful golden light, we couldn’t help but take advantage of it for a few more portraits on our walk back to the bridal cottage. I love all the locations available for photography throughout the venue.

Shelby made such a beautiful bride! Doesn’t she just look like the most gorgeous little woodland fairy out in the middle of the forest?

I just can’t get over those jaw dropping fall colors!

I love the unique design of this ceremony space. Guests are seated amongst the trees on tiered levels, giving everyone a great view of the couple.

Shelby + Nick incorporated a ring warming ceremony into their wedding. In this tradition, family and wedding party pass the wedding rings amongst themselves and pray over them, before handing them to the minister for the couples’ exchange of rings.

The venue owner was kind enough to chauffeur us to a nearby field for some sunset portraits right after the ceremony. These turned out to be some of my favorite images of the day!

Before heading into their reception, Shelby + Nick grabbed a few photos with Nick’s vintage truck, sitting just outside the barn awaiting their getaway at the end of the night.

A bubble exit was the perfect way to end the night for this sweet couple. The whole day was filled with laughter and joy, and it was such an honor to be there to capture it all. Shelby + Nick, thank you so much for trusting us on your big day. Congratulations!
