Jaylea + Koby: January 14, 2023

We started off the new year by jumping right into our 2023 wedding season! Jaylea + Koby were married on a chilly winter day in the small country church Jaylea grew up in. Obviously photographers love those big, expensive venues, but there is something so special about a wedding held in a place that holds significance for the couple. The sanctuary and reception hall were decorated in beautiful deep blues and silver, a perfect color combination for a January wedding. We had gorgeous light to work with for our outdoor portraits and I loved that we were able to incorporate the church as the backdrop for many of our shots. Enjoy the first blog of 2023, and get ready to see many more this year!

Jaylea made her own bouquet– how amazing is that?! I’m always impressed with our brides who are able to DIY such beautiful things for their big day.

Sisters, friends, cousins– Jaylea had all her favorite girls by her side as she got ready to walk down the aisle.

Jaylea + Koby had such a sweet first look! Laughter, tears, and so much excitement all in one big moment.

As soon as I saw the front of the church, I knew I wanted to incorporate it into Jaylea + Koby’s portraits. The windows framed them perfectly, and the reflection from the surrounding trees brought in a bit of nature to an otherwise plain brick background.

Doesn’t Jaylea look like an absolute fairytale princess?! Her lace dress had just the right amount of movement for some dreamy twirling shots.

In the short time I’ve known Jaylea, I’ve learned that she LOVES to laugh. Some of my favorite images from the day are those unplanned moments of laughter that happen in the middle of shooting.

Don’t all these girls look stunning?! They braved the cold in these gorgeous navy dresses, but I tried to get our portraits done as fast as possible so they had time to warm up!

Let me tell you, there was never a dull moment with this group of guys. They were a handful, but doesn’t that make some of the best images sometimes?

Jaylea + Koby chose a dreamy, candlelit ceremony and we tried to photograph it in a way that captured that romantic atmosphere.

Koby honored his late father with his grooms cake– a fishing inspired cake with his photo on the front. Meanwhile, Jaylea + Koby’s wedding cake was a delicious three tiered beauty that tasted as good as it looked!

In a first for me, Jaylea + Koby’s send off included guests throwing SNOW! It was the perfect way to end a winter wedding, and I hope it’s something I have lots of clients do in the future. Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Addison! It was an honor to capture your wedding day.
