As 2016 comes to a close, I think back at all the amazing senior sessions I’ve had this past year! I’ve been blessed to meet some seniors who (no bias here, obviously) are the best around. I love that through the short time we spend together, I get to know them and capture a little piece of who they are through my images. Shyann is no exception– she has a beautiful smile and a sweet personality that just puts you in a good mood! When we first started our session, she was nervous (like a lot of my seniors are) about posing, but she got the hang of it quick and was able to rock any pose I put her in.
These portraits were shot in September, and Little River Canyon was absolutely beautiful. This was before our drought really kicked in, and we had beautiful wild flowers and flowing water in the canyon. I was so happy to find some yellow wildflowers that were a perfect pairing with Shyann’s blue dress. I couldn’t resist letting her frolic and twirl in them for at least a few photos 😉
When my seniors tell me they want water portraits, I always ask “do you want to be BY the water or IN the water?” and you all can imagine what my preferred response is. Shyann had no issues with getting down and dirty in the river water and I love the shots of her there! My favorites are the final images from that day, when Shyann climbed down into a little swimming hole in her floral dress. I love the contrast between the dark water and her colorful outfit– just like Shyann, it was a bright spot in a dark place 🙂
