Rain pretty frequently threatens our wedding days here in Alabama, but it’s been a while since I’ve dealt with a torrential downpour of the kind we saw on Payton and John Quaid’s wedding day. It’s what my grandmother would’ve called a gulley washer. But Payton was perfectly calm, and we waited out the rain for a bit before shooting their first look and portraits (which I’m obsessed with– just look at all those sheep!), shot family portraits through the rain under an awning, and waited it out yet again so we could take dry wedding party photos. And then miraculously, the rain stopped, a cool breeze blew, and the sun popped out for the ceremony. Not a drop of rain was seen again once the wedding started! I loved Payton’s determination to keep her ceremony outside, and Mrs. Paulette of Sweet Seasons Farm did a wonderful job making sure everything ran smoothly through the chaotic first part of the day. As an added bonus, the sweetest lamb was born the morning of the wedding and we got to do a few portraits of Payton getting some snuggles in. Payton and John Quaid absolutely glow when they look at each other, and it’s one of my favorite things about their portraits– if you don’t believe me, have a look for yourself!
