We had the honor of photographing Summer + Dalton’s beautiful wedding this past weekend, and we couldn’t be happier for these high school sweethearts! If the location looks familiar to you, it’s because we were just here a few weeks ago for Mimi + Gabe‘s wedding day! It was really fun to see how these two couples made the space their own, and also a challenge for me to mix things up and not recreate all the same shots twice. Summer + Dalton opted for ivory details with a touch of lilac, and navy suits for the guys. We had beautiful (albeit hot) weather and were able to get so many great shots outside the church before their ceremony. I’ve photographed Summer + Dalton several times in the past, but I can safely say that capturing their wedding is my favorite moment so far.
I made it no secret that Summer’s wedding dress was basically my dream dress, and I was determined to capture all the beautiful details of it. I love the simplicity of the satin fabric with buttons all the way down the train, and that off the shoulder neckline is something dreams are made of!
Dalton got ready at a family friend’s home, in one of the coolest spaces I’ve ever photographed getting ready shots in. There was so much neat memorabilia and antiques that I had to be sure and incorporate it into some shots of Dalton before we headed over to the church for his first look with Summer.
Not sure what’s in the air, but I am loving all the emotional first looks lately! This one had both the bride and groom crying happy tears, and it was such a sweet moment to be there for. Just after seeing each other, Summer + Dalton privately read the vows they’d written for each other, and later said traditional vows during their ceremony.
How cute is this little patch of wildflowers by the fence line? I thought it was the perfect pop of color for a summer wedding, and added another layer of interest to an already great location. Even if yellow wasn’t part of their wedding color palette, you can’t go wrong with wildflowers!
We had a great time during Summer + Dalton’s bride and groom portraits. Their genuine smiles show just how excited they were to finally have everything come together on their big day.
I told you I loved this dress– of COURSE I had to have Summer twirl in it! I also love how she added a belt for a touch of glamour to an overall simple design.
We chose to do Summer + Dalton’s wedding party portraits in front of the church, and I think it made the perfect backdrop. If you’re from the South, you know that those little country churches hold really special memories for a lot of people. Summer’s mom and dad were married in this same church almost 25 years ago!
The cutest flower girl/ring bearer crew ever! These guys definitely understood the assignment.
Summer + Dalton chose simple but elegant decor for their reception, and the ladies of the church helped with decorating as well as serving food. My personal favorite part was Dalton’s chocolate and peanut butter groom’s cake with a big glass of punch!
I will now be requesting that all my couples have a spotlight on their during the first dance. I love the added drama, and how it looks like they’re the only two people in the world during that special moment.
Another wedding, another classic car exit– I could used to these! Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Pendergrass, and thank you so much for allowing us to photograph such a perfect day for the two of you.
