Cheyenne + Matthew: October 3, 2021

When Cheyenne and I first met up to talk about her wedding last year, I just knew it was going to be one of my all time favorites. As someone who also works in the wedding industry, Cheyenne sees the same trends over and over and was keen to do something different. I absolutely loved being able to see her vision come to life at one of my favorite venues, Infinity Event Venue. Coming into the day with a 90% chance of rain was nerve racking for everyone, but to be honest I was also excited for the challenge. Infinity is such a big, beautiful property with ample space for covered and indoor portraits, I knew I would be pushed out of my comfort zone if I wanted to make some magic happen for Matthew and Cheyenne.

Cheyenne opted to do a first look with her dad, and the two exchanged gifts and letters. It was such a sweet moment between the two of them, but my favorite father daughter moment came later, at the reception…

Yes, it did rain most of the day, but luckily we were able to take advantage of several breaks throughout the day and get lots of great portraits with that famous Infinity view! We may have had to move a little faster, but we got it done and I love the images we captured.

I love how much Cheyenne incorporated her sweet flower girls in her wedding day! The petal tossing images will go down as some of my forever favorites, and that shot was completely Chey’s idea!

Cheyenne had a very specific vision for the florals at her wedding, which played a huge part in setting the tone for the event. Nakisha with The Tilted Tulip worked harder than I’ve ever seen a florist work to go above and beyond in bringing that vision to life. The arbor was absolutely breathtaking and made the perfect centerpiece for their ceremony.

Once the weather cleared up after the ceremony, we headed straight for the bluff for wedding party photos! The wind brought the drama, but this group brought the fun.

The weather proved to be a blessing in disguise, as the cloud cover made the incredible view look even better than it does on a sunny day. Every detail of the water and land below was visible and really made you appreciate what a breathtaking location it is.

Cheyenne and Matthew wanted something a little different than the usual scenic shots, so we headed over to Infinity’s “secret garden” for a few photos of the newlyweds. I loved the challenge of being creative with some new locations I haven’t shot in previously.

Speaking of new locations, here’s one I stumbled upon completely on accident, but I’m sure I’ll have to revisit in the future! While photographing Cheyenne’s dress, I looked over and thought what a beautiful little picture window the side of the balcony beside me made. I knew immediately I wanted to take some romantic portraits of Cheyenne and Matthew there after the ceremony, and these two did not disappoint when it comes to bringing the romance!

We couldn’t finish portraits without including Matthew’s pride and joy Camaro in a few shots. I love how even the car matched the color scheme of the wedding!

Did I mention how obsessed I was with Tilted Tulips designs?? The reception space was absolutely gorgeous, with navy and gold accents and an abundance of vibrant flowers.

Remember when I said my favorite father daughter moment happened at the reception? To be precise, it happened at the end of Cheyenne and her dad’s slow dance, when the DJ cut into Footloose and the pair broke into a line dance! It was such a fun moment and set the tone for the whole reception.

Cheyenne and Matthew never once let the weather deter them from enjoying every second of their wedding day. Whether we were rushing inside to keep from getting soaked, or I was dragging them back out to take advantage of our 5 minutes of sunshine, they were absolute troopers who trusted me to take care of them on their big day. I am so thankful they chose me as their wedding photographer and I’m so glad I got to see their vision for a perfect day come to life.
