Wedding season is in full swing for the summer, and that means lots of long hot days for your favorite wedding photographers, but it’s all worth it to capture a bride and groom’s big moments on their most important day. Avery + Blake were married at Dry Creek Chapel in Leesburg this past weekend and held a beautiful celebration with their family and friends. Family is clearly so important to Avery and Blake, and we loved being able to photograph some sweet moments that captured just that. It’s always fun to see what a bride will pick out for her wedding when it comes to color and theme, and I just adore the elegant simplicity of everything Avery chose for her big day, from her satin gown to her all white floral arrangements. Stick around to see some of my favorite details from Avery + Blake’s day!
Avery honored her grandmother by displaying her wedding dress in the bridal suite along with Avery’s own. We grabbed it for a few photos with Avery’s dress and a sweet photo of the two of them. You’ll also see the special way Avery’s grandmother was included during the ceremony a bit later.
Can you spot the bouquet in the background? That’s Avery’s toss bouquet, but first it was her mother’s own bridal bouquet!
Avery requested a first look with her dad and her big brothers, and all of them had the best reaction to seeing her! She also presented her dad with a special tie for him to wear for the big day.
The sweetest big brothers! Austin and Alex looked so excited to see Avery and gave her plenty of brotherly advice about enjoying the day.
It’s no secret we love a first look around here! It’s that magic moment where nerves melt away, and you realize you get to spend the last few hours before you become husband and wife enjoying your time together instead of anxious and apart.
I love everything about Avery’s bridal look! The sleek silhouette, the elegant veil and the organic look of the bouquet all came together to really highlight Avery’s natural beauty. Avery and her mom even had the dress customized to perfectly fit her vision.
One of my favorite spots for portraits at Dry Creek is on the path that leads to the chapel. The light is beautiful and it provides a great view of the chapel, nestled in a clearing of trees.
The blue sage color Avery chose for her bridesmaids’ dresses added just the right amount of color to an otherwise neutral palette.
Avery + Blake’s nieces and nephew made the cutest trio as flower girls and ring bearer. The girls especially knew how to ham it up for the camera!
The portraits we made in the garden next to the bridal suite are some of my favorites from the entire day! Something a little bit different than the usual, but I love the secret garden vibes.
Avery + Blake were married by Avery’s cousin, who presented their rings in Avery’s grandmother’s Bible. Again, we loved the way Avery + Blake put family at the center of everything on their wedding day.
Avery’s uncle surprised guests with a firework send off for the couple at the end of the night, and I can’t think of a more magical way to end the day. Avery + Blake, thank you for allowing us to be there to celebrate you guys on your wedding day. Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Shankles!
