This past weekend I had the honor of photographing a very special wedding with one of the most hard working couples I know. I’ve known Hannah since she was born, and we’ve gone to church together all our lives. Last year, she and Andrew dismantled my grandmother’s old house to salvage some of the materials to use for their own home. I couldn’t even begin to count how many days (not to mention hours) they spent taking the place apart (literally) board by board. They used that same tenacious spirit when it came to planning their wedding– almost everything was done by Hannah and Andrew, along with their families, to make their dreamy backyard wedding a reality. No wedding day goes off without a few hiccups, but everything came together perfectly as these two tied the knot with the sun setting over the open field where they plan to build their home. Their reception was filled with lots of dancing and laughs, especially when Hannah and her PawPaw busted out the twist for their special dance together. Every wedding is unique in its own way but I truly loved seeing Hannah and Andrew’s handiwork in so many elements of their wedding day. If you’ve ever built something with your hands, or cooked a meal from scratch, you know that things you make yourself are just *better* because they fill you with a sense of pride. And I hope Hannah and Andrew are so proud of the amazing celebration they put together to start their marriage. Congratulations, Mr. + Mrs. Dunston!
