My favorite senior sessions tend to be those that are totally unique to the person I’m shooting. And Jay’s shoot definitely fits the bill for being one of a kind! I’ve seen plenty of American flags in front of my camera, but this was the first time I’ve had a senior bring campaign signs and matching t-shirt! Regardless of who you voted for, you gotta love that Jay is interested and invested in politics enough to make it a part of his senior portraits. As you can tell from how good he looks in a suit, this kid definitely has a future as a politician 😉
We shot Jay’s portraits right at the beginning of fall, so we were able to get a great mix of greenery with just the first touches of fall colors. As always, my favorite bamboo patch came in handy for adding some great color and a fun element to a few shots! In addition to his campaign signs and U of A acceptance letter, Jay had another super cool prop– a vintage Chevy from his grandfather’s collection!
If you’re asking me, few things look cooler in pictures that antique cars. Jay picked the perfect outfit to go with it, too. With his navy blazer and khakis, he looked like he stepped straight off of the set of Mad Men. I love that these images have a distinct vintage feel, but they’re also pretty timeless.
It’s safe to say I’ll never have another senior session exactly like Jay’s, and I absolutely love that! Each of my seniors has something that I’ll always remember from their session, and with Jay I’ve got plenty to choose from!
