Madie>> 2017 Marion County Senior

Madie’s senior session was a first for me in more ways than one– not only was she my first class of 2017 senior, she was also my first ever senior from Marion County HS, and my first senior to ever drive almost 3 hours just to have me as her photographer! I was so excited when Madison’s mom contacted me, saying they had found me on Instagram and loved my photos. It’s one thing to have local clients hear about you through friends, but it’s a serious confidence booster when people find you independently and want to hire you just because they love your work. In addition to being excited, I was of course nervous! I was afraid it would rain after they drove all that way (and it almost did!), I was afraid they wouldn’t like their pictures, I was afraid I’d be awkward (but I’m always awkward, so who cares)… but Madie’s session was so much fun that I realize all that worrying was ridiculous!

We started with hair and makeup at Bombshell Hair Studio in Fort Payne where I and Madie’s stylists completely gawked over her amazing hair and those full lips! We did our first couple looks in downtown Fort Payne, just walking around and scoping out cool spots. I always try to challenge myself to find new places in spots I’d be shooting at anyway. For Madie’s second look, our stylist Ashley did a loose braid and dark berry lip that was so stunning. After we wrapped up in town, we headed to Little River Canyon, where Madie somehow transformed herself into a woodland fairy. I fell in love with the flower crown her super talented mom made, and I thought it was such a beautiful touch with her light blue dress. We raced to beat the sunset, and made it just in time for some gorgeous shots overlooking the canyon.

I couldn’t have asked for a better start to my 2017 senior sessions, and I’m so excited to meet all the upcoming #kcphotoseniors. I am already full booked for 2016, but will start booking spring senior sessions in a couple weeks!
