I’ve always been fascinated with old pictures. Looking back through old family photos two and three generations back and getting to see what these people did, what they wore, where they lived– it really takes you back in time. Similarly, I think it’s always wonderful when you can incorporate the past with the present in a new photograph. And that is exactly what we did with Bentley in this series of photos. When her mom posted a picture of her wearing this dress, which belonged to her grandmother as a child, I just knew I had to photograph her in it. But wardrobe is only half the story here– we shot on Bentley’s great-grandparents home place, where her grandmother grew up and undoubtedly wore that same dress before. I couldn’t help but think of Jenny from Forrest Gump when I saw Bentley in the sweet vintage dress with her pretty blonde hair, sitting in her rope swing and saying a prayer in a nearby corn field. True, timeless beauty.
These photos are some of the best I have seen in my life. I almost cry when I look at them. This little blue eyed angel is some kind of awesome, but I may be a little prejudice because I am her Papaw Luther.
